The taper of a pear gives a ring its direction, and the seat of this two-tone semi-mount engagement ring is set so the point will fall true along the finger once a stone of 0.85 Ctw to 1.20 Ctw is chosen. Along the shoulders, 12 round cut diamonds are prong set in a slender run that narrows toward the back. Each sits open on all sides for maximum light return. A pear rewards a mounting that knows when to stop, and this one keeps its detail along the shank rather than crowding the seat where the stone will sit. Knowing where to stop is the harder half of designing a mounting like this. Crafted in 14 karat yellow and white gold with the white gold given a rhodium finish, the ring is finished with a total weight of 1/20 Ctw.
