The oval has become the most requested center shape of recent years, and this semi-mount engagement ring is drawn to suit it, the open seat sized for a stone of 1.65 Ctw to 2.35 Ctw. Into the band, 6 straight baguette diamonds carrying weight 1/5 Ctw are flush set so their rectangular facets lie level with the surface. Beside them, 12 round cut diamonds carrying weight 1/20 Ctw are prong set at measured intervals, each left open to the light. Leaving metal visible between the side stones is a deliberate decision rather than an economy, keeping the shank slender and the center unmistakably the focus of the design. Restraint is what makes the proportion work. Crafted in 14 karat white gold with a rhodium finish for even brightness, the mounting closes with a total weight of 1/4 Ctw.
